• Understand the significance of ‘happiness’ in creating a high performing practice.
Raj Rattan MBE

Raj Rattan’s portfolio career includes over 30 years’ clinical experience in general dental practice. He owned and operated a small practice group and was involved in dental foundation training for over 20 years, first as a programme director and then strategic association dean at the London Deanery. He has been an examiner for the Faculty of General Dental Practice and is a visiting professor of general dental practice at the College of Medicine and Dentistry.
He has provided consultancy services to public and private sector organisations, including the NHS, Denplan, dental corporates and the Department of Health, where he has previously served as a policy adviser.
Raj is the author/co-author of several textbooks, including a textbook on law and ethics. and has published numerous articles over 25 years. He has lectured extensively throughout the UK and internationally and was a part-time dento-legal consultant for many years at Dental Protection before taking up his current role as
Dental Director in 2016.
In 2008, he was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours Listsfor services to dentistry.
Outside dentistry, in 2023, he completed his master’s degree in philosophy in 2023 – a long-standing ambition fulfilled. His hobbies and interests include creative writing, motor sport and magic. He has been a member of the famous Magic Circle for over 30 years and was the recipient of the Hoffman Prize in 2011.
